【講解】

此語的意義與be done with相近，都表示結束或了結。be over sth.表示人在得病或不好的境遇之後恢復過來，例如:I think I'm over the worst of it now.(我覺得現在自己把最難過的熬出來了。）be over單獨使用時，表示"結束"，例如:Is the meeting over?(會結束了嗎?）與之相應的詞語還有be/get sth. over and done with，表示"已經完結，已經完了"，其中and done可以省略。

【對話】

A：Two years are over and I have to be realistic about myself.
A：兩年過去了，得現實一些了。

B: What do you mean?
B：爲什麼這麼說？

A: I don't think I can live up to the goals set two years ago. I always have the hope of being a physicist, but now I should give it up.
A: 我覺得自己達不到兩年前定的目標了。我一直想當名物理學家，如今怕是要放棄了。

B: Why? You must have confidence to do something.
B: 爲什麼？你必須得有信心。

A: You know I'm not doing very well in physics.
