在口語上，託福和雅思的差異極大。首先，雅思考試是真人考試，而托福考試是機器考試。這種差異讓雅思的口語考試並不那麼“標準化”，因爲每個人和真人面試官的互動都不一樣。而託福則非常標準化，同樣的題目、準備時間和答題時間。
在考察的內容上，雅思更偏重生活化話題多一些，雅思的考察話題在每一場考試比較單一，除第一部分日常寒暄，第二部分和第三部分均就同一個大話題進行討論，屬於往“深了”討論。而託福學術性話題則重一些，每個部分都是模擬了學生可能在大學校園遇到的場景。而且四個部分話題各不相同。

The story that i remember quite clearly is called the Race Between the Hareand the Tortoise. It was told by my father when i was about 6 years old. Thestory goes like this: an arrogant here thought the was the fastest animal in theforest. Quite interestingly, a tortoise wanted to challenge him. The harelaughed very hard because it sounded very ridiculous to him. The tortoise wantedto have a race with him. The race attracted all the animals in the forest. Astaring line was made and off the hare and tortoise went. The hare was veryfast, so he was far ahead, then he took a rest. The tortoise, however, keptmoving forward slowly but surly. By the time the tortoise came up, his opponentwas sleeping. The hare didn’t wake up until it was too late. The winner was thetortoise. It’s a quite simple but meaningful story. It teaches us that, as longas we stick to our goals, we will reach it, no matter what.

Well, the important event that i want to talk about today is my mother’sbirthday. Last month was my mother’s birthday. In the past the whole familyusually went to the restaurant and the cinema to celebrate. However, this year,I decided to do something special since i have been away from home for a longtime. So, I planned to prepare a surprise birthday dinner for my mother.
Honestly speaking,preparing the meal alone is a kind of difficult tly, I downloaded the recipes of my mother’s favorite dishes from theInternet. Secondly, I needed to learn about how to cook those dishes from myfather. Thirdly, I needed to guarantee that my mother would not know about thissurprise in advance. Luckily, everything went well on my mother’s birthday, andmu mother was moved to tears when she saw the meal I cooked for her.
Basically speaking, my mother’s birthday is an important event in my familysince it is a good chance for my family o get together. I think my parents,especially my mother are extremely surprised and moved to this celebration sinceit is the first time for me to cook for my family.
Moreover, i think this meal symbolizes my love to my mother. When I wasyoung, my mother got up very early to prepare the breakfast for me and sent meto school everyday. Nowadays, i have already grown up and it is the time for meto take care of her.

Ok right then, well the group activity I’d like to talk about was actuallyan English speaking competition I took part in during my first year atuniversity, which everyone on my course had to be in, so it was basicallycompulsory for us, otherwise I can safely say there’s no way I would have takenpart in it, because at that time, my English really wasn’t that great!
But anyway, as for what we had to do, well, to begin with, we were all putinto small groups of about four or five, and in our groups, we had to write asmall play in English lasting about seven or eight minutes, and then act it outin front of all the students and lecturers on our course.
So regarding how difficult it was, well if truth be told, we all found itincredibly tough, at least in my group anyway,because none of us had everwritten a play in English before, so it was a big challenge for us. But Isuppose it was reassuring to know that everyone on our course was in the sameboat, and thankfully we were helped by the fact thata couple of guys in ourgroup spoke really good English, so if it wasn’t for them, I honestly don’t knowhow we would have done it!
Anyway, in the end, we managed to put something quite good together andactually ended up coming second out of about 10 groups, which we were reallyhappy about, because we never expected to do that well!
And finally, with regard to how I felt about being part of this team, wellI basically just felt super lucky, because firstlywe had some really smart guysin our group, and it turned out that they were good actors as well, which was abig bonus! But probably what impressed me most about my teammates was the factthat, when we were running out of time to come up with something to write, theyall managed to remain calm and focused, which was a huge help,otherwise we couldhave just panicked and given up. But we didn’t, and in the end we were able tosucceed. So this experience has really taught me a lot about how to act underpressure in a group situation.
