had better （常簡略爲'd better）是固定詞組，常表示“最好”，用於表示對別人的勸告、建議或表示一種願望，主語不論是第幾人稱，句子不論是什麼時態，都要用had better 的形式。其用法有以下幾點：
1．had better 後面必須跟動詞原形
had better 後跟動詞原形，即不帶to 的不定式，構成had better do sth.句型，例如：
You'd better go to hospital at once. 你最好立即去醫院看病。
2．had better 的否定式
常用的否定形式是將not 直接放在had better 的後面，例如：
You had better not do that stupid thing. 你最好不要做那樣愚蠢的事。
