The global shift away from coal gained momentum on Thursday as more than 25 countries and regions pledged to stop using the fuel in power generation by 2030.
逾25個國家和地區週四承諾到2030年停止使用煤炭發電，爲全球減少煤炭使用的努力增添了新動力。The British-Canadian initiative was supported by countries including France, Italy, Mexico, the Netherlands, Finland, Portugal and New Zealand, as well as the US state of Washington and Canadian provinces such as Ontario and Alberta.

“Coal is not coming back,” said Catherine McKenna, the Canadian minister for environment and climate change. “The economic case is clear. The price of solar and wind has plummeted. Clean power is also increasingly the cheapest power.”
