美甲用到的詞是manicure，這個詞既有動詞“修指甲”的意思，也可作名詞。注意：這個詞僅用來形容“手部指甲護理”，如果說“腳部指甲護理”，用的是pedicure這個詞。
而很多人常用的指甲油，英文則是nail polish。
