Li: Hi and welcome to another edition of The English We Speak. Today I'm joined by Neil, who seems to be a bit agitated.
李：大家好，歡迎來到本期我們說的英語節目。今天我們請到了尼爾，他看起來有點激動。Neil: Ah, sorry Li. I'm really, really excited! Actually, I haven't even got a script for the programme! I don't need a script! I don't need anything! I'm rich beyond my wildest dreams!
尼爾：抱歉，李。我真的非常興奮！實際上，我還沒有拿到節目的臺本！不過我不需要臺本！我什麼都不需要！我做夢都沒想到我有錢了！Li: Oh, that's nice. How come that you've got rich all of a sudden?

Neil: …a Mercedes Benz and a Porsche. And then a boat, then a yacht. A big one!

李：尼爾，發生什麼了？你瘋了！Neil: Bananas?! No cheap old fruit for me any more… caviar, champagne, lobster and…
尼爾：香蕉？！我已經不再需要便宜的水果了……我要魚子醬，香檳，龍蝦還有……Li: I'm not offering you bananas. You are not listening. I'm saying that you've gone bananas!
李：我沒有要給你香蕉。你剛纔沒在聽嗎？我是說你瘋了！Neil: Sorry Li. I'm very excited because I won the lottery! You know, this week they've got this big jackpot to offer and I got all the numbers right!
尼爾：抱歉，李。我現在非常興奮，因爲我中彩票了！你知道的，這周公布的是最高獎，而我的所有號碼都對上了！Li: Good on you.
李：祝賀你。Neil: 'To go bananas' has nothing to do with food, as you know. It's an expression in English we use when we are so excited that we act almost out of control!
尼爾：如你所知，“發瘋了”這個短語與食物沒有任何關係。這是英語中的一種表達方式，用在我們非常興奮的時候，這個時候我們的行爲幾乎會失控！Li: It is a very odd expression. We'd better let people know how it is used.
李：這是個非常奇怪的表達。我們最好讓大家知道如何應用。Neil: Good idea. Let me write my shopping list while we listen to some examples of the use of this expression that has nothing to do with the actual fruit. Here they are:
尼爾：好主意。我要寫購物清單，這個時間我們來聽一下這個實際上與水果沒有任何關係的短語的使用。下面是例子：I'm so happy that I finally got my promotion. Yesterday I went bananas! I ended up running around the office, hugging and kissing my boss and every single co-worker! They probably thought I was mad.
我終於升職了，我真是太高興了。昨天我都發瘋了！我在辦公室裏跑來跑去，親吻擁抱老闆和每一名同事！他們可能認爲我瘋了。After the team scored its fourth goal in the final the fans went bananas and started to shout and jump up and down!
球隊在決賽中打進第四個球以後，粉絲們瘋狂了，他們開始大喊並且上蹦下跳！Neil: So 'to go bananas' is not an expression about food but about behaviour. It means to behave in a very over-enthusiastic way, like you’ve gone crazy–an explosion of happiness!
尼爾：所以這個短語並不是關於食物的表達，而是有關一種行爲。意思是舉止行爲過於熱情，就好像你發瘋了一樣，是一種幸福的爆發！Li: All this excitement has made me want to go out shopping too. I'll get myself a toy boat to play with in my bathtub and down the park, in the lake. And then I'm going to the zoo.
李：這激動人心的事情讓我也想出去購物了。我要給自己買艘玩具船，在浴缸裏玩，或者拿去公園、湖裏玩。之後我要去動物園。Neil: The zoo? Why the zoo?
尼爾：動物園？爲什麼要去動物園？Li: All this conversation about bananas made me keen to watch the monkeys. I might give them some very big, shiny and tasty bananas–bright yellow, the colour of gold!
李：這個對話是有關香蕉的，讓我非常想去看看猴子。我可能會餵它們吃又大又亮又美味的香蕉，是亮黃色的香蕉，這是黃金的顏色！Neil: The colour of gold! The most beautiful colour there is! Golden bananas-the monkeys might even think that they've won the jackpot too!

突然地；出乎意料地；
eg. All of a sudden I heard an almighty crash from the kitchen.

eg. Can you beat that! He left all of a sudden without saying a word.

4. go banana
愚蠢的；發狂的；瘋狂的；
eg. People went bananas with boredom.
人們悶得發狂。
eg. Adamson's going to go bananas on this one.
亞當森會被這個氣瘋的。
5. out of control
失去控制；不受控制；
eg. The car went out of control and ploughed into the side of a bus.
那汽車失控攔腰撞上了一輛公共汽車。
eg. The forest was nearly out of control when suddenly it rained heavily and saved the day.

6. go crazy
發瘋；
eg. When I think it all over I go crazy, I see red.
我想了這一切，就不由得發狂，不由得怒火中燒。
eg. I need to let off steam or I'll go crazy!
