The work of radio hosts and TV hosts is similar to each other in many ways. First, both radio hosts and TV hosts must be fluent in languages. Second, they are all supposed to have a wide knowledge of culture, history, geography and so on. In addition, they must give completely correct information.
However, there are also some differences between them. For the TV hosts, they must pay much attention to their appearances while the radio hosts needn’t. Besides, TV hosts can make use of pictures to express themselves more clearly but the radio hosts can not.

Wu Jianxiong, a female Chinese-American physicist, was born in Taicang County, Jiangsu Province on May 31st, 1912. She went to the USA for further education in 1936. Four years later, she got the doctor’s degree in California University. After that she received lots of doctor’s degrees in many famous universities in the USA. She devoted her life to her research in physics and won many prizes in the USA and all around the world. She had paid much attention to the development of science and technology in China, and she had been back to hold lectures many times since 1973. She set up a laboratory under her name in Dongnan University in 1992. On February 16th, 1997, she died of heart disease.

How did you spend your summer vacation this year?
In my vacation, my family and I went to National Park. We visited the island in the center of the lake.
We took a ferryboat to the island at 9:00 am. The first place we visited was the Botanical Garden. Then we visited the Site of an Old Temple which had a history of over 600 years. Lunch was served at 11:30. After that, we went to see varieties of Birds at the Birds House. We went shopping for some souvenirs at the Gift Shop before we left. Finally, we returned from the island by cable car at 3:30 pm.
Though we were tired, we had a good time, because we like nature very much. Do you like nature, too?

Putonghua and the dongbei dialect
There are some differences between putonghua and some dialects, which are spoken in different parts of China, including the dongbei dialect.
Written Chinese and grammar are almost the same, but there are some words in the dongbei dialect that are not used by people who speak putonghua. For example, dongbei people often use “gala” to mean “jiaoluo” in putonghua, and use “an’men” to mean “wo’men”.
It is easy to tell small differences in pronunciation and intonation between putonghua and the dongbei dialect. For example, “ren” is often pronounced as “yin”. However, the differences are so small that people who speak putonghua and those who speak the dongbei dialect can understand each other without difficulty.
