遼寧阜新礦難致二十六人死亡
BEIJING: A coal mine blaze killed 24 workers and left 52 injured innorthwest Chinaon Wednesday, government sources said. The accident took place in a state-ownedFuxin Coal Corporation in Liaoningprovince.
北京：據政府消息，中國西北部一煤礦週三發生煤塵燃燒事故致24名礦工死亡，52人受傷。該煤礦屬於遼寧省國有阜新礦業有限責任公司。The government did not release the reasons behind the fire but it highlightedlax safety standards in China'scoal mining sector which is plagued with regular occurrences of accidents anddeaths.
政府並沒有公佈煤礦起火的原因，但事故突出了死亡事故頻發的中國採煤業安全標準寬鬆。Last April, 20 people died when a coal minein southwest Yunnanprovince suddenly flooded, leaving miners trapped. This was followed by thedeath of 22 people in an accident at a coal mine in the southwest city of Chongqing.
去年4月份，雲南省一處煤礦突然被水淹沒導致20名被困礦工死亡。此前，重慶市一煤礦發生事故導致22人死亡。
A total of 1,049 people were killed or declared missing in 589 mining-relatedaccidents in China,according to official statistics. But this number marked a 24 per centreduction accidents and fatalities compared to 2012.
據官方發佈的數據，在中國發生的589起與煤礦有關的事故中，共有1049人遇難或失蹤。但與2012年相比，這個數據表明事故發生和人員傷亡的頻率下降了24%。
Intense government inspection and punishment of derelict officials and illegalmine owners had some impact on safety standards but the latest incident in astate-owned company showed Chinahas a long way to go before safety is ensured in Chinese mines.
