上海世茂深坑酒店將於明年開始試運營
It has taken over a decade of painstaking work, but the structure of the world's first quarry hotel is now complete, with the property set to open in Shanghai next year, the owner has announced.
在歷經超過10年的艱辛工作之後，世界上第一家深坑酒店現在終於完工了，酒店業主已經宣佈將在明年於上海開業。The Sheshan Shimao Quarry Hotel in the city's southwest is being built in an abandoned open-cast mine the size of five football fields. Total cost will exceed 1 billion yuan once its interior has been fitted out.
位於上海市西南部的佘山世茂深坑酒店，是在一座廢棄的、面積相當於5個足球場那麼大的露天礦場上建造的。其內部全部裝修完的總成本將超過10億元。With 16 of its 18 floors underground, it has been called a wonder of modern engineering.
在總共的18層中，有16層在地下，這也被稱爲現代工程的奇蹟。
Chief engineer Chen Xiaxiang said while normal projects use tried and tested technology to transport materials upward, this undertaking has required novel solutions to achieve the opposite.
總工程師陳夏祥表示，常規的項目使用的是已經通過測試考驗的技術來實現向上運輸材料，而這個項目則是爲了實現相反的運輸方向，採取的是新的解決方案。"It's been a fight against gravity," he said.
他說：“這是一場對抗重力的戰鬥。”The "fight" has mustered more than 5,000 architects, engineers, designers and workers, from initial design in 2006 to interior decoration today.
從2006年的最初設計到今天的室內裝修，這場“戰鬥”已經調動了5000多名建築師、工程師、設計師和工人。Along the way, Chen's team has registered 39 patents and made hundreds of technological breakthroughs.
在此過程中，陳夏祥的團隊已經註冊了39項專利，並取得了數百項技術突破。When complete it will have 336 rooms and suites, an underwater restaurant, and all the amenities of a five-star hotel.
在完工之後，該建築將擁有336間客房、套房、水下餐廳，以及五星級酒店的所有設施。
