美語情景對話 第404期:Being Vegetarian 素食主義者
Well, I'm going to talk a little bit about why I'm vegetarian. actually, I became vegetarian when I was 8 years old. We did a project at school and I found out that animals are actually killed for us to eat and as an 8 year-old I thought that was rather immoral, so I went home and I told my parents that I didn't want to eat meat anymore so now I eat everything really except for meat and fish and I don't eat things with animals fats in either. I think really I'm a vegetarian now because it's a habit and if I were to eat meat, I think I would be quite ill. My favorite food is probably tofu although I like broccoli and I like chocolate as well.
我要簡單談一下我爲什麼會成爲素食主義者。實際上，我是在8歲時成爲素食主義者的。當時學校有個項目，我發現動物實際上是供我們食用才被殺的，當時8歲的我認爲那太不道德了，所以我回家告訴我父母我再也不要吃肉了，所以現在我不吃魚和肉，其他的東西都會吃，當然我也不吃動物脂肪。我認爲現在的我是實實在在的素食主義者，因爲這已經成爲一種習慣，而且如果我吃肉的話，我就會生病。我最喜歡的食物是豆腐，我也喜歡綠菜花和巧克力。Sometimes because I like traveling, I go to places and it's really difficult for vegetarians because they don't really have anything for vegetarians to eat, so sometimes I just have like, a bowl of rice, or an omelet, or something like that, but when I'm at home, I like to cook for myself, and I like to cook nice vegetarian dishes, and stews and things like that. My parents didn't mind me becoming a vegetarian, and I think they were really good about it because I don't know many people, who when their child said they wanted to be a vegetarian would accept that, so I was really grateful to my parents for being so nice and understanding about it.
我喜歡旅行，我喜歡去各種地方，這對素食主義者來說很難，因爲他們不會提供素食主義者的食物，有時我只吃一碗米飯或是一個煎蛋卷，只能吃這樣的東西，不過我在家的時候，我喜歡自己做飯吃，我喜歡烹飪美味的素食菜餚，比如燉菜之類的食物。我父母不介意我成爲素食主義者，我認爲他們真的很好，我不清楚其他人聽到孩子說想成爲素食主義者時會不會接受，但是我很感激我的父母能理解我，並接受這一點。
