英語中時間的表達方法大體上有兩大類：
直接表達法

2. 間接表達法
A. 如果分鐘數少於30分鐘，可用分鐘 + past + 鐘點表示，其中past是介詞，意思是“過”。如：
twenty past four 四點二十 eight past one 一點八分
B. 如果分鐘數多於30分鐘，可用(60分鐘-原分鐘數)+ to +(原鐘點數+ 1)表示，其中to是介詞，意思是“差”。如：
8:35 可表示爲twenty-five to nine 差二十五分鐘九點，即八點三十五(其中的分鐘數twenty-five 是由60分鐘減去35分鐘得到的;鐘點數nine是由8加上1得到的)
