“私奔”，用英語要怎麼說？

我們可以直接使用elope這個詞來表示“私奔”，elope有兩個意思：

1. to run away secretly with the intention of getting married usually without parental consent（一般未經父母同意，爲了結婚而偷偷地逃跑）

2. to run away from one's spouse with a lover（與情人一起私奔，逃離原配）

例：She attempted to elope, but didn't get far and was sent home.

她試過私奔，但沒跑多遠就被送回家了。

不過，現在私奔有了新的含義，也可用於指舉辦小型私密的婚禮。

例：If you opt to elope instead and invite only a few dear friends and family, you could end up saving yourself tens of thousands of dollars.

如果你選擇私密婚禮，只邀請幾個親密的朋友和家人，你可以爲自己省下成千上萬美元。

另外，還可以用run off/away with sb來描述與某人私奔。

例：She ran away with her boss.
