A類小作文：

題目：The graph shows the development of a particular college campus from 1975 to 2002 and the proposed development of 2022.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant. Write at least 150 words.

解題思路：

這道題是地圖題中比較多見的一種，描寫學校前後佈局的變化。這道題的特別之處是涉及到了三個時間的學校佈局，在描寫的時候，需要注意時態問題。

參考範文：

The two maps show the changes of a college layout between 1975 and 2002, and the projected development in the next two decades.

Overall, it is clear that by 2002 the principal change to the campus had been the addition of new buildings and the layout will continue to be improved according to the plan for 2022.  

In 1975, a large area in the center of the campus was covered with trees. There was a long path slanting through the trees, connecting the sports center to the lecture room. To the north of the lecture room, a car park was located alongside the buildings for drama and music. A main library can be seen in the southwest of the schoolyard.  

By 2002, much of the vegetation had been cleared to make room for the buildings. At the campus center, a new science building was constructed. Around the science building, the library had increased in space for the IT room and the car park had expanded to cater to the increasing number of staff.

By 2022, it is expected that a new building for indoor activities will be constructed on the site of the original sports field. In addition, there will be a short path built to link the sports field and the IT room.

題目：Some people think that young people should spend more of their free time at home with their families, and spend less time entertaining outside. Others disagree. Discuss both views and give your opinion.

題型：雙邊討論

話題：社會類

解題思路：需要討論的是年輕人應該如何分配空閒時間。在家裏陪長輩親戚？還是出去社交娛樂？寫作時應該注意討論重點是young people，因此論述時需要結合年輕人的特點進行分析。另外題目中只是說more time和less time，並沒有將任意一方絕對化，建議表述自己觀點時也適當平衡兩方，全面論述。

參考範文：

Compared with several decades before, youngsters now have more choices to spend their free time. While some people believe it is normal that the young generation takes long time participating in various entertainments, others condemn that they spare too little time with their families.

For many elders, young people are ambitious and energetic, but also inexperienced and credulous. They have high expectations and are eager to prove their value, which is also a weakness in the eyes of the seasoned adults. Therefore, young people should spend more time learning from the older generation, staying down-to-earth and being fully aware of their strengths and disadvantages. Family members are also capable to find the best way to communicate with children and help them achieve their goals. Besides, trust and love from home are far more precious than the recognition from colleagues or friends. They can be a robust thrust for one’s career, as well as a cosy harbour when one needs comfort and care.

Nevertheless, some hold an opposite view that young people should leave more time to go outside and see a different world. The quickest way for this is to take part in various social activities. When the young with the same ages and hobbies gather together, they will feel more relaxed and inspired. Through the entertainments, the young can learn from all walks of life and develop good social skills which are indispensable in modern life. They believe the wider the network of contacts is, the more opportunities they will have down the road.

In my opinion, both family and social relations are worth the time, for they bring us different benefits, and what matters most is how we balance the two. I render it is better for one to make enough preparations at home before plunging into the intriguing while complicated social activities.
