《春秋》是中國古代的編年史，自古以來一直是中國經典的核心內容之一。《春秋》是魯國的官方編年史，記錄了從公元前722年到公元前481年共241年的歷史。它是現存最早的以編年史形式編寫的中國歷史文獻。因爲傳統上認爲它是由孔子編撰的，所以它和《詩經》（the Book of Poetry）、《尚書》（the Book of History）、《易經》（the Book of Changes）、《禮記》（the Book of Rites）一起被列入《五經》（the Five Classics）。《春秋》記載了每年發生在魯國的主要事件，如結婚、死亡和統治者的葬禮、戰鬥、祭祀儀式（sacrificial rituals）、被認爲具有重要儀式意義的天象（celestial phenomena）和自然災害。

The Spring and autumn Annals or Chunqiu is an ancient Chinese chronicle that has been one of the core Chinese classics since ancient times. The Annals is the official chronicle of the State of Lu, and covers a 241-year period from 722 to 481 BC. It is the earliest surviving Chinese historical text to be arranged in annals form. Because it was traditionally regarded as having been compiled by Confucius, it was listed into the Five Classics of Chinese literature together with the Book of Poetry, the Book of History, the Book of Changes and the Book of Rites. It records main events that occurred in Lu each year, such as the marriages, deaths, and funerals of rulers, battles, sacrificial rituals, celestial phenomena considered ritually important, and natural disasters.
