中國民航局解封手機禁令 將由航空公司評估決定
China's civil aviation authority said on Monday that it will lift its ban on the use of portable electronic devices on aircraft, and airlines will make the decision themselves.
中國民航局日前表示，將解禁機上便攜式電子設備使用的規定，交由航空公司自行決定。Since 1999, China's aviation authority has banned the use of any portable electronic devices on the plane. It was thought the wireless signals from those could affect flight safety.
自1999年以來，中國航空當局已經禁止在飛機上使用任何便攜式電子設備。人們認爲這些無線信號可能會影響飛行安全。"But now, the government will give airlines the right to decide on their own," said Zhu Tao, deputy director of the Department of Flight Standard of the Civil Aviation Administration of China.

"I believe we will see various Chinese airline companies allowing passengers to use portable electronic devices on planes in the near future."

The reason for the change is that the anti-interference characteristics of aircraft have been enhanced, said Li Yuan, an expert in civil aviation.
民航專家李淵稱，這一變化的出現是因爲飛機自身的抗干擾能力已有所提高。Many foreign airlines have long allowed passengers to use certain electronic devices during a flight's cruise phase, including phones and laptops.
許多外國航空公司早已允許乘客在飛行巡航階段使用包括手機和筆記本電腦在內的某些電子設備。Some Chinese airlines also allow laptops during the cruise phase, though they prohibit cellphones.
儘管一些中國航空公司仍禁止使用手機，但他們也允許在巡航階段使用筆記本電腦。The CAAC also updated its physical requirements for selecting student pilots for civil aviation. Now, a student can qualify with a visual acuity higher than 4.0 on an E Snellen chart, compared with 4.5 in the past.
