十年一劍! 外教社漢英對照版四大名著出齊!大綱

A new Chinese-English edition of the four classics of Chinese literature was recently published by a Shanghai publishing house after ten years of persistent efforts, reported.

據澎湃新聞報道，在經過10年的不懈努力，上海一家出版社最近出版了整套漢英對照版的中國四大名著。

The four great classical novels were finished in the Ming and Qing dynasties, include The Story of the Stone, The Three Kingdoms, The Journey to the West, and The Marshes of Mount Liang.

這四大名著均完成於明清時期，分別爲《紅樓夢》、《三國演義》、《西遊記》和《水滸傳》。

The new editions published by Shanghai Foreign Language Education Press thrilled the public, as many world renowned translators had devoted themselves to the project.

這套由上海外語教育出版社出版的新版本讓公衆爲之驚歎，因爲全球許多知名譯者都參與到該項目中來。

The Marshes of Mount Liang translated by John and Alex Deng-Young was first published in 2011, followed by The Story of the Stone by British sinologists David Hawks and John Minford, and The Journey to the West by Anthony C. Yu, a scholar of literature at the American Academy of Arts and Sciences (AAAS) and the University of Chicago.

由約翰·登特·楊和亞歷克斯·登特·楊父子二人翻譯的 《水滸傳》最先於2011年出版，隨後出版的是英國漢學家大衛·霍克思、約翰·閔福德完成的《紅樓夢》，以及由美國芝加哥大學藝術與科學學院院士餘國藩翻譯的《西遊記》。

The Three Kingdoms, translated by Chinese professor Yu Sumei, was the last of the series to be translated, but it is the first English version by a Chinese translator, and his fellows have spoken highly of it.

由中國的虞蘇美教授翻譯的《三國演義》是這一套裏最後出版的，這是首個由中國譯者完成的譯本，受到了其他譯者的高度評價。

The Three Kingdoms represents the supreme achievement of historical novels in ancient China, and also vividly reflects the political and culture of that time, said Professor Cha Mingjian from the Shanghai International Studies University.

上海外國語大學的查明建教授認爲,《三國演義》代表了中國古代歷史小說的最高成就，也是中國古代政治和文化最生動的文學性演繹。

Cha said Yu's translation is faithful to the original and more acceptable for Western readers, and can be compared to the Homer's Epic in the English world.

查明建表示，虞蘇美的譯文既忠實於原著，又注重西方英語讀者的可接受性，可媲美西方世界的《荷馬史詩》。

'It's impressive to translate such a novel with many characters, complicated scenarios, and hidden political metaphors,' said He Gangqiang, professor of translation at Fudan University in Shanghai.

上海復旦大學何剛強教授表示：“翻譯這樣一部風雲人物衆多的、歷史場景複雜的、包含很多政治隱喻的小說，的確令人欽佩。”
