This is a story from Three Kingdoms. Guan Yuwas hit by a poisonous arrow in the right arm whileattacking Fancheng City. When his men took thearrowhead out， they found that the poison hadalready seeped into the bone， so they persuadedhim to go to Jingzhou for treatment. Determined totake over Fancheng City， Guan refused to ng Guan's wound getting worse day by day，they sent out scouts to look for famous day， a man named Hua Tuo came by boat tothe camp especially to cure Guan Yu. Guan asked him about how he would heal the wound. Huasaid： “I am afraid that you will be scared， so Isuggest that we set up a post with a loop to tiedown your arm with rope. Then， when your eyes are covered， I will start the operation.” Guanlaughingly said， “That's necessary.” Then he gave orders to hold a dinner for Hua Tuo. Afterdrinking several glasses of wine， Guan started to play chess. At the same time， he reachedout his right arm to Hua Tuo and said， “It is at your disposal. I have no fear.” Hua cut theskin and flesh open and scraped the bone with scalpel. Everyone present covered his eyeswhile Guan continued drinking and playing chess. In a moment， the blood filled a basin. Whenthe poison was scraped off the bone， Guan stood up and smilingly said， “Now my arm canmove freely just like before. Mr. Hua Tuo， you are a magic doctor!” Hua said， “Since I startedmedical practice， I have not seen anyone like you. You are a magic general.”
刮骨療毒
關羽攻打樊城時，被毒箭射中右臂。將士們取出箭頭一看，毒已滲入骨頭，勸關羽回荊州治療。關羽決心攻下樊城，不肯退。將士們見關羽箭傷逐漸加重，便派人四處打聽名醫。一天，有人從江上駕小舟來到寨前，自報姓華名佗，特來給關羽治傷。關羽問華佗怎樣治法?華佗說：“我怕你害怕，立一柱子，柱子上吊一環，把你的胳膊套入環中，用繩子捆緊，再蓋住你的眼睛，給你開刀治療。”關羽笑着說：“不用捆。”然後吩咐宴招待華佗。關羽喝了幾杯酒就與人下棋，同時把右臂伸給華佗，並說：“隨你治吧，我不害怕。”華佗切開肉皮，用刀刮骨。在場的人嚇得用手捂着眼。再看關羽，一邊喝酒，一邊下棋。過了一會，血流了一盆，骨上的毒刮完，關羽笑着站起來對衆將說：“我的胳膊伸彎自如，好像從前一樣。華佗先生，你真是神醫呀!”華佗說：“我行醫以來，從沒見像你這樣了不起的人，將軍乃神人也。”
