A string walks into a bar and asks the bartender fora drink. The bartender looks at the string and says, "Sorry, Dude. We don't serve strings in here. Youare going to have to go somewhere else." The stringis angry and leaves the bar.
有條繩子走進酒吧，要酒保給他一杯酒。酒保看着這條繩子說道：“抱歉，小夥子，我們這裏不招待繩子，你去別的地方吧。”於是繩子憤憤地離開了酒吧。
Moments later the string comes back into the barand asks the bartender for a drink.
過了一會兒，這條繩子又回到酒吧要酒保給他一杯酒。
"Sorry, we don't serve strings. Now, get out of here." This really pisses the string off. Heleaves the bar and goes outside.
“抱歉，我們不招待繩子。現在給我滾開。”繩子這回真的火大了，他離開酒吧。
He is so angry that he has a tantrum outside. He get himself so upset that he ties himself all upin knots. He goes back into the bar and asks the bartender for a drink one more time.
他憤憤不平地在外面發了一頓脾氣，氣到把自己全身打結。他又走進酒吧，再一次要酒保給他一杯酒。
The bartender peers over the bar at the string and says, "Listen. I told you we don't servestring, aren't you?"
酒保盯着吧檯上這條繩子說道：“聽着，我已經告訴過你這間酒吧不招待繩子。難道你不是繩子嗎?”
The string looks at the man and says, "No, I'm a frayed knot."
繩子看着酒保說：“不，我是一個磨損的繩結。”
有關於小學英語故事：經商之“耳”was in a terrible accident at work. He fell through afloor tile and ripped off both of his ears.
湯姆工作時發生嚴重意外。他因爲摔倒撞到地板上的瓷磚，兩隻耳朵被扯掉了。
Since he was permanently disfigured, he settledwith the company for a rather large sum of money.
由於是永久性毀容，他向公司要求了一大筆賠償金。
One day, decided to invest his money in a smallbusiness.
有一天，湯姆決定用他的錢投資小生意。
After weeks of negotiations, he bought the company outright. But, he realized that he knewnothing about running such a business and quickly set out to hire someone who could do thatfor him.
經過幾個星期的協商，他把公司全部買下來;不過他知道自己在經營公司方面一無所知，便立即着手僱請能夠幫他的人。
He set up three interviews. The first guy was great. At the end of the interview, asked him, "Do you noticed anything different about me?" And the gentleman answered, "Why yes, Icouldn't help but notice you have no ears."
他安排了三場面試。第一個傢伙還不錯，面試結束時，湯姆問他：“你有注意到我哪裏不一樣嗎?”這位先生回答：“當然有囉，我很難不去注意到你沒有耳朵。”
Tom got very angry and threw him out.
湯姆大發雷霆，把他給趕走了。
The second interview was with a woman, and she was even better than the first guy. He askedher the same question, “Do you notice anything different about me?” And she replied, “Well,you have no ears.”
第二次面試來的是一位女子，比第一個傢伙還要優秀。他也問她同樣的問題：“你注意到我哪裏不一樣嗎?”她回答：“這個嘛，你沒有耳朵啊。”
Tom again was upset and tossed her out.
他又氣得把她轟出去了。
The third and last interview was the best of all three. He seemed to be a better businessmanthan the first two put together.
第三次，也是最後一次面試，應徵者算是最優秀的。他似乎是個比前兩個人加起來都還要棒的生意人。
Tom was anxious,but went ahead and asked the young guy the same question:"Do you noticeanything different about me?"
湯姆有點擔心，但還是直接問這個年輕人同樣的問題：“你有注意到我哪裏不一樣嗎?”
And to his surprise, the young guy answered, “Yes. You wear contact lenses.”
令他吃驚的是，這個年輕人竟回答：“有，你戴了隱形眼鏡。”
Tom was shocked, and remarked, “What an incredibly observant young guy. How in the worlddid you know that?”
湯姆大爲震驚，問道：“你這個年輕人觀察力之敏銳，實在讓人難以置信。你到底是怎麼知道的?”
The young guy replied,“Well, it's pretty damn hard to wear glasses with no ears!”
年輕人回答：“這個嘛，沒有耳朵又要戴眼鏡實在是難如登天啊!”

有關於小學英語故事：沒有母牛的新農場A man from up state had always dreamed of owninghis own cattle ranch, and finally made enough moneyto buy himself the spread of his dreams in Texas.
有個人住在遠離大城市的地區，一直夢想着擁有一座屬於自己的養牛場。他最後賺夠了錢，在德州給自己買了一個夢想中的農場。
"So, what did you name the ranch?" asked his bestfriend when he flew out to visit.
“那你給這座農場取什麼名字?”他最好的朋友搭機來探望他時問道。
"We had a heck of a time," admitted the new cowboy. "Couldn't agree on anything."
"的確有那麼一陣子，"這個新牛仔承認道：“大家一直無法取得共識。”
We finally settled on the "big and beautiful Outback—but not too far outback—Texan ranch."
最後我們敲定“又大又美的內地——但不是太遠的內地——德州人農場”這個名字。
"Wow. That is a long name for a ranch," said his friend. "So where are all the cows?"
“哇，對農場來說，這可是很長的名字哩。”他朋友說：“那母牛都跑哪裏去了?”
"None of'em survived the branding."
“母牛身上烙印了農場的名字後，一隻都沒活下來。”
