威廉大婚或遭遇罷工 倫敦地鐵恐癱瘓
Union militants are cynically targeting the Royal Wedding for strikes which could wreck the day for a million wellwishers. London Underground drivers are threatening to walk out, bringing havoc to the capital on a day of national celebration. And British Airways cabin crew could also stop work for a nine-day period which includes Easter weekend and the marriage of Prince William and Kate Middleton on April 29.
隨着威廉與凱特在4月29日的盛大婚禮時間一天一天臨近，這個“全民節日”變得越來越錯綜複雜，我們愈發看到——婚禮絕不僅僅是兩個人的事情，它既可以牽扯到商業(有關訂婚的紀念品暢銷)也可以牽扯到政治(罷工)了，這場婚禮可謂是政治，經濟和文化一應俱全。據悉，倫敦地鐵工人以及英國航空公司空客服務人員威脅會在婚禮期間舉行“大罷工”，其中地鐵工人希望能獲得一天時間倒休和獲得3倍工資的結果，與此同時，英國航空公司工作人員“立志”舉行連同復活節放假的“9日大罷工”，誓言不把倫敦交通弄癱瘓不罷休。
The plans were described as pointless and ‘beyond belief’, while business leaders accused the rail union Aslef of holding London to ransom. Aslef union official Steve Grant said yesterday: ‘We have already warned of further strike action on Bank Holidays and one of those options is April 29.’
罷工聲一出，全民激憤。英國老百姓覺得罷工是“難以置信”的，原以爲皇室大婚當天他們可以好好享用這個節日，然而卻有可能面臨交通癱瘓的痛苦。英國火車司機與司爐聯合會爲此承擔了所有壓力，民衆罵他們把倫敦牽扯進賭博當中，絲毫不顧民衆的死活。而英國火車司機與司爐聯合會的領導Steve Grant 卻說：“罷工可能不僅限地鐵司機和航空人員，在婚禮當天有可能有更多類似的罷工活動。”
He said he was sure that the ‘overwhelming majority of sensible Tube drivers’ would ignore the strike call, adding: ‘I hope very much that they will now urge their union representatives to think again about this proposal.’David Cameron’s spokesman said: ‘Any such plans will be seen as a cynical attempt to undermine a day of national celebration.’
罷工的反對者稱：“希望和平並參與到威廉與凱特的愛情的民衆佔絕大多數，希望罷工聯盟代表能慎重考慮罷工的提議，從公衆基本利益與權益的角度出發。”英國首相卡梅倫的發言人也對此發表特別聲明，聲明中說：“關於在婚禮期間任何有關罷工的提議都會被視作是不可理喻的荒唐舉動，終將會被落入衆人恥笑的境地。”
