英語單詞remain的正確用法
remain是高中英語中的一個重要詞彙,高考曾多次考查過remain的用法,但remain仍不失爲高考重點“嫌疑”單詞,下面舉例說明remain的正確用法，供同學們參考。
(1)停留，逗留(continue in some place)。用作不及物動詞。
se remain here till I return.
請留在這兒，等我回來。
He seldom remains in his office.
他很少呆在辦公室裏。
(3)剩下、遺留(be still present after a part has gone or has been taken away)。用作不及物動詞。
you take 4 from 9，5 remains.
九減四剩五。
Few people remained in the meeting-room.
會議室的人所剩無幾。
當“剩下、留下”講時應注意以下兩點：
a.可與不定式連用
e.g.A lot of work remains to be done in the office.
辦公室裏待做的工作很多。
Many problems remain to be settled.
很多問題尚待解決。
b.用現在分詞remaining(剩下的、剩餘的)作定語。
old man didn"t know how to deal with the remaining vegetables.
這位老人不知道怎麼來處理剩餘的蔬菜。
The boy ate up the remaining food.
這個男孩把剩下的食物全吃了。
(2)保持(某種狀態)繼續存在，仍舊是(continue in some condition/continue to be)。
用作連繫動詞，後面接形容詞、名詞、分詞和介詞短語，本課中出現的即爲此用法。
will remain in contact with us.
他們將與我們保持聯繫。
After years of hard work，Tom still re-mained a worker.
多年的辛勞後，湯姆仍是一名工人。
That old man remained full of energy.
那位老人還是那麼精力充沛。
The situation remained unchanged.
局勢沒有什麼變化。
She remained sitting when they came in.
他們進來時，她仍然坐着(沒有站起來)。
