soil & earth & land & ground 詞彙辨析

Soil、earth、ground和land都可以表示“地面”，但這四個詞的用法有很大的區別。一起來看看吧！

soil意爲：“泥土、土壤”，尤指生長植物的土地。或“國家、國土”。

The trees have rooted in the rich soil.  

樹木在肥沃的土壤裏已經紮根。

It was the first time we had set foot on foreign/French/American soil (= gone to a foreign country/France/America).

那是我們第一次踏上異國／法國／美國的土地。

earth意爲：“地球、大地”，“泥土、土壤”。

The earth takes approximately 365 and 1/4 days to go round the sun.

地球圍繞太陽運轉一週大約需要365又1/4天。

Spring rains and warm sunlight quickened the earth.

春雨和溫暖的陽光使大地復甦了。

ground意爲：“地、地面”，主要指大地表面，可泛指各種地面。也可用指土壤，場地，庭院等。

I sat down on the ground.

我坐在地上。

The ground was frozen hard and was impossible to dig.

土地凍實了，根本挖不動。

The best fishing grounds are around the islands.

最好的漁場是在島嶼周圍。

land意爲：“陸地，土地”。與海洋、河流相對，也可指“田地、耕地”，可耕種的田地就叫做land。另外，它可以指“國士”、“國家”。

It is cheaper to drill for oil on land than at sea.

在陸地上鑽探石油比在海上更經濟。

This sort of land is no good for growing potatoes.

這種地不適合種馬鈴薯。

Only the mighty God has the power on this dark land to lighten it.
