Nowadays, most commodities or services are rated through certain channels. These ratings, easy to access, are playing an increasingly important role incustomers’ purchase decision. However, results are sometimes unsatisfactory.

There is no denying that such ratings might bring convenience to consumers, but they are often misleading and unreliable. As we all know, most of theratings are based on others’ judgment on the product or service concerned. Everyjudgment comes from a specific need or a unique psychological state. Apparently, blindly following others’ advice will affect our own judgment. Another factshould not be neglected that some of the ratings are the outcome of a carefulmanipulation of companies or sellers. It has become a common practice for someto pay for good ratings on their products or services so as to increase theirsales.

Therefore, we should give a second thought to these ratings whenever we goshopping.

Dear editor,

I am writing to express my views on the playground vandalism near myhousing estate. The housing estate where I live in in the New Territories hasmany excellent facilities. While most people treat them properly, there are somepeople destroy all these valuable public resources. The playground equipment isheavily damaged. Some facilities are burned and broken. The graffiti arecompletely covered all over the place. Some of the graffiti even includes badlanguage. It’s adversely influence the children safety and our precious publicresources.

The reason of this vandalism is mainly related to the people who are out ofboredom and the shortage of security. Nowadays, most teenagers like to spendtheir time through hanging out with friends. When they have nothing to play orany recreational activities, the playground may be targeted as an amusement forspending their time. Due to teenagers are now in the process of buildingself-worth and self-esteem, they will try to do something over in order to getthe peer recognition. For instant, the teenagers pretend to be a leader throughdestroying the facilities. In these recent years, these selfish andirresponsible behaviors under the fabricating, exaggerating from social media, started becoming rationalized. That’s why the playground vandalism happens.Secondly, it is because of the shortage of security guards. If there is securityguard checking the playground regularly, to deter any vandalism promptly, thisphenomenon will not happen.

To solve the problem, establishing a youth centre and forming a managementcommittee are the best ways to solve the problem. Since Teenagers are havingmore free time, their needs of recreational activity are relatively elevated. Therefore, if there’s any activity or place to let them spend their free time, they will naturally lose interest in the destruction of the park, so as toprotect the playground’s facilities and relieve the serious vandalismefficaciously. Establishing a youth centre is the best way to let the teenagersgetting the community involved and spends their free time. In the youth centre,it will be provided some sporting equipment, chess game for them to play. Also, the youth centre will organize some activities for teenagers to enrich theirlife and help them to build up self-esteem, responsibility and self-worth. Letthem can get into the community involved in the future easily.

Second, it’s about the security. Due to the shortage of security guard, theteenagers can go to destroy the park whenever they want. Nobody cares about itand looks after the place. It’s conceivable that the vandalism will continuouslyhappen if there isn't any security guard. In contrast, if there is a managementcommittee to supervise the playground, patrol it regularly, teenagers willbehave more appropriate if they know that someone is watching them, so as toprotect our facilities.

The situation now needs urgent attention! The existing playground is brokenand dangerous for young children to play in. It’s not just vandalism, is adanger bomb in the society! If the problem cannot be solved promptly, it willbecome a vicious cycle, fully threaten our children safety and our daily life. Therefore, I earnestly urge the relevant departments to face and solve thisproblem immediately, so as to protect our children and facilities.

Yours faithfully,

Chris Wong

The family had just moved to Rhode Island, and the young woman was feeling alittle melancholy on that Sunday in May. After all,it was Mother's Day--and 800miles separated her from her parents in Ohio.

She had called her mother that morning to wish her a happy Mother's Day,andher mother had mentioned how colorful the yard was now that spring had arrived. As they talked, the younger woman could almost smell the tantalizing aroma ofpurple lilacs hanging on the big bush outside her parents'back door.

Later, when she mentioned to her husband how she missed those lilacs, hepopped up from his chair. "I know where we can find you all you want,"he said."Get the kids and c'mon. "

So off they went, driving the country roads of northern Rhode Island on thekind of day only mid-May can produce:sparkling sunshine, unclouded azure skiesand vibrant newness of the green growing all around. They went past smallvillages and burgeoning housing developments, past abandoned apple orchards, backto where trees and brush have devoured old homesteads.

Where they stopped, dense thickets of cedars and ju nipers and birch crowdedthe roadway on both sides. There wasn't a lilac bush in sight.

"Come with me,"the man said. "Over that hill is an old cellar hole, fromsomebody's farm of years ago,and there are lilacs all round it. The man who ownsthis land said I could poke around here anytime. I'm sure he won't mind if wepick a few lilacs. "

Before they got halfway up the hill, the fragrance of the lilacs drifteddown to them, and the kids started running. Soon, the mother beganrunning, too, until she reached the top.

There, far from view of passing motorists and hidden from encroachingcivilization, were the towering lilacs bushes,so laden with the huge,cone-shapedflower clusters that they almost bent double. With a smile, the young womanrushed up to the nearest bush and buried her face in the flowers, drinking in thefragrance and the memories it recalled.

While the man examined the cellar hole and tried to explain to the childrenwhat the house must have looked like, the woman drifted among the lilacs.Carefully, she chose a sprig here, another one there, and clipped them with herhusband's pocket knife. She was in no hurry, relishing each blossom as a rare anddelicate treasure.

Finally, though, they returned to their car for the trip home. While the kidschattered and the man drove, the woman sat smiling, surrounded by her flowers, afaraway look in her eyes.

When they were within three miles of home, she suddenly shouted to herhusband,"Stop the car. Stop right here!"

The man slammed on the brakes. Before he could ask her why she wanted tostop, the woman was out of the car and hurrying up a nearby grassy slope with thelilacs still in her arms. At the top of the hill was a nursing home and, becauseit was such a beautiful spring day,the patients were outdoors strolling withrelatives or sitting on the porch.

The young woman went to the end of the porch, where an elderly patient wassitting in her wheelchair, alone, head bowed, her back to most of the others.Across the porch railing went the flowers,in to the lap of the old woman. Shelifted her head, and smiled. For a few moments, the two women chatted, both aglowwith happiness, and then the young woman turned and ran back to her family. Asthe car pulled away, the woman in the wheelchair waved, and clutched thelilacs.

"Mom,"the kids asked,"who was that? Why did you give her our flowers? Is shesomebody's mother?"The mother said she didn't know the old woman. But it wasMother's Day,and she seemed so alone, and who wouldn't be cheered byflowers?"Besides,"she added,"I have all of you,and I still have my mother, evenif she is far away. That woman needed those flowers more than I did. "

This satisfied the kids, but not the husband. The next day he purchased halfa dozen young lilacs bushes and planted them around their yard, and several timessince then he has added more.

I was that man. The young mother was,and is,my wife. Now,every May,our ownyard is redolent with lilacs. Every Mother's Day our kids gather purplebouquets. And every year I remember that smile on a lonely old woman's face, andthe kindness that put the smile there.

Tucked away in our subconscious is an idyllic vision. We see ourselves on along trip that spans the continent. We are traveling by train. Out the windows,we drink in the passing scene of cars on nearby highways, of children waving ata crossing, of cattle grazing on a distant hillside, of smoke pouring from apower plant, of row upon row of corn and wheat, of flatlands and valleys, ofmountains and rolling hillsides, of city skylines and village halls.

But uppermost in our minds is the final destination. On a certain day at acertain hour, we will pull into the station. Bands will be playing and flagswaving. Once we get there, so many wonderful dreams will come true and thepieces of our lives will fit together like a completed jigsaw puzzle. Howrestlessly we pace the aisles, damning the minutes for loitering --waiting,waiting, waiting for the station.

"When we reach the station, that will be it! "we cry. "When I'm 18. ""WhenI buy a new 450SL Mercedes Benz! ""When I put the last kid through college.""When I have paid off the mortgage!""When I get a promotion.""When I reach theage of retirement, I shall live happily ever after! "

Sooner or later, we must realize there is no station, no one place toarrive at once and for all. The true joy of life is the trip. The station isonly a dream. It constantly outdistances us.

"Relish the moment " is a good motto, especially when coupled with Psalm118:24:"This is the day which the Lord hath made;we will rejoice and be glad init. " It isn't the burdens of today that drive men mad. It is the regrets overyesterday and the fear of tomorrow. Regret and fear are twin thieves who rob usof today.

So stop pacing the aisles and counting the miles. In stead, climb moremountains, eat more ice cream, go barefoot more often, swim more rivers, watchmore sunsets, laugh more, cry less. Life must be lived as we go along. Thestation will come soon enough.

In recent years, thousands and thousands of people leave their comfortablehomes to study in countries such as united states, Canada ,England and so on.What's more, A large number of people who study abroad are at young age. Why dothey do it? The problem is worthy of serious consideration.

Everything has tow sides. Not only has the advantages but also hasdisadvantages, including studying abroad. On one hand, the developed countriesare more advanced in education, philosophy and teaching facilities, students canhave better education. On the other hand , different countries have differentculture .Contacting with different people on their own is also a kind ofexperience. People learn about the culture of other countries , they can improvetheir connotation of self–cultivation. It's benefical for us to develop in thefuture. Not only can they make more friends ,but also they can learn morelanguages.

But living and studying in another countries can also have its problem. Onone hand, if the students' age is too small, it's difficult for them to solvethe problem of life. They bear a great pressure, not just the life pressure, butmore of psychological pressure. Today's students lack of experience, live a longtime in foreign country, the kind of homesickness and persistent loneliness, noteveryone can handle! On the other hand, study abroad is expensive.A lot offamilies do not have this ability. It's difficult to adapt to the local customsand hard to commuication with other People. So I think that when students have astrong physique, positive attitude and good ability to adapt, they can considerto study abroad.

As we know,There is denying that there are many advantages in study abroad. In my opinion. For some wealthy families, they can afford the large cost inforeign countries.Due to the rapid development of economy in recent years, people study abroad has became an inevtable trend.

If I have the chance to go abroad to study, I want to go to USA.
