A former heroin addict has revealed the horrific toll the drug took on his life - robbing him of his teeth and leaving him suicidal. David started out as a teenage drug dealer but just a few small bad decisions left him battling a severe addiction. The habit cost him everything.

He's been drug-free for six months. And he's helping other escape the same nightmare. David, 37, began selling drugs after going off the rails and falling in with dealers. He does not want to reveal his surname because of the shame his addiction brought on his family. But he wants to others to know his inspiring story.

A group of friends decided to 'tax' a cannabis dealer of his crop, and he went with them. But the target got assaulted - and David and his friends were prosecuted. He got a short custodial sentence, going in to young offenders as a bit of a tearaway, but criminally naive.

Then he made another, catastrophic miscalculation.
