年超八成留學生完成學業後選擇回國
More than 80 percent of Chinese students returned to the country after completing their studies abroad, and the country has sent 544,500 students in 2016 to study abroad.
超八成中國留學生會在國外完成學業之後歸國，而2016年我國留學生的數量達到了544500人。China's Ministry of Education (MOE) said at a news conference that most of the world's foreign students who study abroad are from China.
教育部在一場新聞發佈會上表示，全球大多數的留學生都是來自中國。Over 90 percent of them attended schools in English-speaking countries, such as the US, the UK and australia, and over 70 percent pursue at least a bachelor's degree, according to the MOE.
據教育部表示，這些學生90%以上都就讀於英語國家，例如美國、英國和澳大利亞等，70%的人至少是在攻讀學士學位。
It also said 98 percent of government-sponsored students returned to China. Government-sponsored students who study abroad have chosen to pursue disciplines most needed in China, including engineering, the pure sciences, agriculture and medical science.
教育部還表示，公費留學學生的歸國率達到了98%。公費留學生一般選擇中國急需的專業，包括工程學、純科學、農業和醫學科學等。
The government-sponsored students have signed an agreement that says they are required to reimburse the government if they do not return home after completing their studies, said Xiong Binqi, vice president of 21st Century Education Research Institute.
據二十一世紀教育研究院副院長熊丙奇表示，公費留學生都簽署了一項協議，如果完成學業後不回國的話，必須償還政府的資助款項。China is trying to attract more students with an international background because of the country's involvement in global cooperation, said Miao Lü, secretary general of the Center for China and Globalization.
據中國與全球化研究中心祕書長苗綠表示，因爲中國正大力參與全球合作，因此中國正試圖吸引更多具有國際背景的學生。She added that because of economic conditions and anti-immigration sentiment in some Western countries, many Chinese students find it difficult to stay in those countries.
她還表示，由於西方一些國家的經濟條件和反移民情緒，許多中國學生髮現現在很難留在這些國家。"Moreover, most Chinese families only have one child, so many of us return to China because we want to stay close to our family and friends," said a student surnamed Su, who gave up his job in the UK and returned to take care of his mother in China.
