南非冷知識：一年一次的海洋奇觀，沙丁魚大遷徙
每年的五月到六月，在南非的開普角都會發生這一奇觀，數百萬的銀色沙丁魚會像海中颶風一樣向溫暖的北方遷徙，整個魚羣的規模要用公里來計算。
與這些沙丁魚同時出現的，還有各種捕食他們的動物，水中的和天上的都有，場面非常壯觀。
Between May and July every year millions of small silver fish travel in vast shoals from the cold waters off South Africa’s Cape Point up to the coastlines of the northern Eastern Cape and southern KwaZulu-Natal. This annual event is called the Sardine Run. The shoals are so big – 15km long, 3.5km wide and up to 40m deep – they can be seen by satellite. In their wake come hundreds of birds, sharks, whales, dolphins, all eager to hunt these fish.
每年5月至7月，數百萬小銀魚成羣結隊地從南非開普角附近的寒冷水域遊至東開普省北部和納塔爾誇祖盧南部沿海地帶。這一年度活動被稱爲沙丁魚賽跑。這些魚羣非常大，長15公里，寬3.5公里，深達40米，而且通過衛星可以觀察到。而之後數以百計的鳥類、鯊魚、鯨魚、海豚都急切地想要捉到這些魚。
