首先介紹這個詞：nauseous，表示令人厭惡的，作嘔的。

I felt so nauseous looking at this disgusting food .
看着這個噁心的食物，我感到很作嘔。

下面這個相當活用的詞：but, 我們知道它是一個轉折詞，表示“但是，然而”的意思，如：

Listen, Roger, I like you, but you're just giving me too much, you know. 聽着，羅傑，我喜歡你，但你有些過分了，知道嗎？
Guangzhou is a beautiful city, but it's too hot in the summer. 廣州是個美麗的城市，但就是夏天太熱了。
Tom was not there, but his brother was. 湯姆不在那兒，但他的哥哥在那兒。
We can but try. 我們也只能試一試。
He left but an hour ago. 他只不過一小時前才離去。

“but”用在下面這些場合非常適用，“but”放在句中，用作“除外”的意思，我們來看看：

I have nothing but money. 我除了錢，什麼都沒有。
Everybody but me got a raise during the New Year. 新年裏，每人都漲了工資，就我沒漲。
Nothing but disaster would come from such a plan. 這個計劃只能招致災禍，別無益處。
They're all wrong but me. 除了我，他們都錯了。
Who but Gloria would do such a thing? 除了格洛裏以外，還有誰願意做這事。
