Have you ever thought of quitting your job when you feel exhausted? Maybe most of you would say “yes”. After a particularly busy period at work, I decided to get away from it all by going on a hike in the mountains in southern France.

Before I left, I read an interesting story in a magazine. It read, “Once, while I was riding on a crowded bus, the man sitting next to me threw his cell phone out of the window when his phone rang. I was surprised. He looked at me, shrugged (聳聳肩) and looked away. I had no idea whether it was his or stolen or whether he even knew what a cell phone was or not, but he clearly wanted to be free of it, because it clearly

troubled him.”

Billions of people across the world use cell phones. Though cell phones are a wonderful way for communication, they often do the exact opposite. Using cell phones can increase stress within families and friends.

So when I recently returned home, I got rid of my cell phone. Now I go outside without taking my phone with me. I’ve noticed things in my neighborhood I never noticed before, such as gardens. I’ve met new people, started conversations with neighbors I didn’t speak to before and talked with some of my friends face to face instead of chatting over the phone.

Instead of keeping me off from the world, stopping using my cell phone has helped me get even closer to my family and friends.

5. According to the story, the man on the bus threw a way his cell phone because______.

A. it didn’t work properly B. it was stolen from someone else

C. he didn’t like the phone’s style D. he didn’t want to be bothered by it

6. We can learn from the passage that cell phones ______.

A. are too expensi ve for many people

B. are of no use to the author

C. can also get people into trouble

D. can make life more interesting

7. The main purpose of the passage is to ______.

A. tell us not to let cell phones control our lives

B. encourage others to hike with him in France

C. share his experiences in France with us

D. teach us how to get along with neighbors

In a shocking upset,70-year-old Republican candidate Donald Trump rode a wave to victory as voters elected him the 45th President of the United States.

Actually, a lot of experts had predicted that Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton would come out on top. Throughout the campaign, one of Trump's main challenges was to persuade voters that he has the attitude, knowledge and judgment to be president. In the end, he was able to attract more than enough voters to his side.

Hillary Clinton admitted the election to Trump in a phone call at around 2:30 am. Hillary has worked very long and very hard over a long period of time," Trump told his supporters during his victory speech. "We owe her a major debt of gratitude for her service to our country. "

Hillary Clinton delivered her speech later in the day. "We must accept this result and then look to the future," she told her disappointed supporters. " Donald Trump is going to be our president. We owe him an open mind and the chance to lead. "

Trump's rise to the presidency comes after a long career as a real-estate developer. He built skyscrapers, resorts and golf courses. He also risked other businesses, introducing Trump Steaks, Trump Natural Spring Water, and an airline called Trump Shuttle. In 2004, he became a TV star with the reality show The Appre ntice.

Now Trump and his team will have to face many difficult things. They'll have to work to bring the country together after a divisive campaign that upset millions of Americans. Throughout the country, millions of Americans are out of work and struggling to make ends meet. The new president must also address international issues. They include the war on terrorism and the refugee crisis. Still, Trump says he sees a bright future ahead. " Every single American will have the opportunity to realize his or her fullest potential," he told his supporters.

8. What should many experts think of Trump's victory?

A. It is expected. B. It is satisfying.

C. It is annoying. D. It is surprising.

9. How old was Donald Trump when he became a TV star?

A. 50 years old. B. 54 years old.

C. 58 years old. D. 62 years old.

10. What can be learned about Donald Trump fro m the passage?

A. He is a successful businessman.

B. He has been serving in government.

C. He thought badly of Hillary Clinton.

D. He is worried about America.

11. What is the last paragraph mainly about?

A. The problems with America.

B. The challenges Trump will face.

C. Trump's ideas about his future work.

D. The decisions Trump will have to make.

One day in the gym, I asked a coach, “What’s the difference betw een the best athletes and everyone else?” He briefly mentioned the things that you might expect:genetics, luck, talent.

But then he added something I wasn’t expecting. “At some point,” he said, “it comes down to who can handle the boredom of training every day and doing the same practice over and over again.”

Most of the time people talk about getting motivated to work on their goals. As a result, I think many people get depressed when they lose focus or motivation because they think that successful people never lack motivation that they seem to be missing. But that’s exactly the opposite of what this coach was saying.

When I was an athlete, I loved going to practice the week after a big win. Who wouldn’t? Your coach is happy, your teammates are excited, and you feel like you can beat anyone. As an entrepreneur, I love working when customers are rolling in and things are going well. Getting results has a way of pushing you forward.

But what about when you’re bored? What about when the work isn’t easy? What about when it feels like nobody is paying attention or you’re not getting the results you want? It’s the ability to work when work isn’t easy that makes the difference.

If you look at the people who are consistently achieving their goals, you start to realize that it’s not the events or the results that make them different. It’s their commitment to the process. They fall in love with the daily practice.

So, fall in love with boredom. Fall in love with repetition(重複) and practice. Fall in love with the process of what you do and let the results take care of themselves.

was the author’s attitude towards the coach’s added answer?

A. He doubted it. B. He argued against it.

C. He was surprised at it. D. He was uninterested in it.

coach supposes successful people _____________________.

A. can avoid negative emotions.

B. can keep themselves inspired

C. have a real enthusiasm for their work

author mentions his own experience to show ________.

A. the way of becoming successful.

A. value motivation. B. live with repetition.

Sound familiar?___19____. Ask other people and you’ll find that just about all people---adults and other kids---feel some anxiety before a test. 書面表達

As is often the case, when people are attending meetings, having meals or waiting for buses, you can always find them addicted to their phones, completely ignoring others.

This is really a common phenomenon in our life. The reason is that smart phones nowadays can be used for people to play mobile games and keep in touch with friends through QQ and WeChat. However, too much exposure to phones is bad for people in terms of health. Moreover, people engaged in phones fail to communicate well with those around them.

As far as I am concerned, people should wisely make use of their phones to help with their work and study. And meanwhile care more about their family and friends rather than mobile phones.
