不管是小說還是學科專業書籍，在標題頁(title page)的背後，可能都會有這麼一頁，上面要麼寫着“獻給某某人”，要麼就是一些跟書籍內容幾乎完全無關的話。
這一頁在英文中叫做dedication page，中文可翻譯成“題獻頁”。
它作爲一種創作傳統，通常是作者向與其息息相關的人表達愛意、謝意或尊敬的方式。
以前讀《哈利·波特》系列，沉浸在魔法世界的同時，偶爾翻過題獻頁，會好奇，這些被羅琳寫到自己心愛作品前面的名字到底是誰，和她又是什麼關係，有過什麼故事。

We are not certain who exactly Susan Sladden is, but she could be the Susan to whom Jo once referred in an interview as the woman who used to look after Jessica (Jo's daughter) while Jo worked on the Harry Potter books.
