Fishing is my favourite sport. I often fish for hours without catching anything. But this does not worry me. Some fishermen are unlucky. Instead of catching fish, they catch old boots and rubbish. I am even less lucky. I never catch anything -- not even old boots. After having spent whole mornings on the river, I always go home with an empty bag. 'You must give up fishing!' my friends say. 'It's a waste of time.' But they don't realize one important thing. I'm not really interested in fishing. I am only interested in sitting in a boat and doing nothing at all!

ing is my favourite sport.
Fishing:動名詞做主語，語法功能相當於名詞
sport：消遣，娛樂（game,pastime）
2.I often fish for hours without catching anything.
fish:vi.
without catching:prep+
catch v. 抓到
常用catch詞組：
catch cold 染上感冒
catch a bus 趕車
catch one's breath 摒住呼吸
catch sight of = see 看見
catch fire 着火
catch one's eyes 吸引某人注意力
without:prep.
注意：介詞後面一定要加賓語（n./ etc.）
ead of catching fish, they catch old boots and rubbish.
=They don't catch fish, instead they catch old boots and rubbish.(此句中用了連詞instead,比較課文中句子)
instead of:介詞短語，意思爲作爲...的替換
rubbish:不可數名詞
4.I am even less lucky.
=I'm not even as lucky as they are.（not ...）
此句完整表達爲：I am even less lucky than those fishmen who only catch boots and rubbish.
less+a.原形 : A is less ... than B A不如B...
must give up fishing.
give up:放棄...（後跟n.）
fishing:動名詞做賓語
they don't realize one important thing.
realize:1）意識到...2）實現
第四部分 KEY STRUCTURES AND USAGE
動名詞
形 式：
語法功能：相當於名詞，可做句子中主/賓語
例句應用：
1)動名詞作主語
Eating is always a pleasure. 吃總是一件愉快的事情.
Watching television is my favourite pastime. 看電視是我最喜愛的業餘愛好.
Reading in bed is something I always enjoy. 我總喜歡躺在牀上看書
2)動名詞作賓語
I am very keen on cycling. 我非常喜歡騎自行車.
She is afraid of staying in that house alone. 她害怕單獨住在那間屋子裏.
He is capable of doing anything. 他能勝任任何事情.
I am only interested in sitting in a boat and doing nothing at all!(doing後還可以跟賓語nothing)
