有時候，美國人談起潤脣膏，不是用"lip balm"這個詞, 而是“Chapstick". 咦？這是什麼鬼？別太驚奇哦，其實Chapstick就是一個潤脣膏的品牌。但是，由於它非常普及，這個品牌名已經成了所有潤脣膏的代名詞, 包括其它品牌。
其實在美國，還有很多這樣品牌代表產品類目的例子。比如Kleenex, 代表紙巾，而紙巾本身叫做tissue; Band-Aid,邦迪品牌 代表創可貼。Bubble Wrap代表保鮮膜。Q-tips代表棉籤。
