Directions: For this part, you are allowed 30 minutes to write a short essay on innovation. Your essay should include the importance of innovation and measures to be taken to encourage innovation.You are required to write at least 150 words but no more than 200 words.
Of all the elements that lead to our success, perhaps the most far-reaching has been innovation. It is difficult to the point of impossibility for people to imagine a time without innovation.
Just as a proverb says, “Innovation is the soul of a nation's progress”. It indeed plays an essential role in our life. Had it not been for it, we china could not have made progress. So we should not only learn it from our ancestors, but also hand it down to our future generation. Given this, what can we do to cultivate it?
The measures are listed as following. First and foremost, the authorities concerned should set up favorable laws and regulations to encourage things and persons that have the spirit of innovation. What is more, the public are expected to realize the significance of innovation, so they can try their best to do some innovative things. Last but not least, the press should place more value on the topic of innovation. Though there is a long way to go, I firmly believe that our combined efforts will be rewarded at last.【參考譯文】
在促使一個人成功的所有因素中，也許最有影響力的因素就是創新。我們很難想象一個沒有創新的時代。
正如一個諺語所說：創新是一個民族進步的靈魂。事實上，它還在我們的生活中扮演者重要的角色。如果沒有創新，我們中國就不可能獲得進步。所以，我們不僅應該從先輩們身上學習這種創新的精神，還應該把它傳遞給我們的子孫後代。鑑於它如此重要，我們應該怎樣做才能培養這種創新精神呢？
具體來說，措施如下。首先，相關的部門可以制定一些有利的法律法規來鼓勵那些具有創新精神的人或事；其次，人們應該意識到創新的重要性，這樣的話他們就能努力去做一些創造性的事情；最後，媒體應該多多關注“創新”的這個話題。儘管還有很長的路要走，但是我堅信，我們共同的努力最終將會得到回報。
