旅遊勝地——黃石國家公園
黃石國家公園(Yellowstone National Park)位於美國西部的落基山北部和落基山中部之間的熔岩高原上，絕大部分在懷俄明州的西北部。黃石河、黃石湖縱貫其中，有峽谷、瀑布、溫泉以及間歇泉等，景色秀麗，引人人勝。園內森林茂密，還有一些野生動物供人觀賞。園內還設有歷史古蹟博物館。
黃石國家公園是一個實實在在的荒野，是少有的大面積自然環境之一，是全世界第一個國家公園，也是1978年最早進入《世界遺產名錄》的項目之一。
黃石國家公園自然景觀分爲五大區，即瑪默區、羅斯福區、峽谷區、間歇泉區和湖泊區。五個景區各具特色，但有一個共同的特色就是地熱奇觀。黃石國家公園內有溫泉3000多處，其中間歇泉300多處，許多間歇泉的噴水高度超過100英尺，“獅羣噴泉”由4個噴泉組成，水柱噴出前發出像獅吼的聲音，接着水柱射向空中。“藍寶石噴泉”水色碧藍。
其中尤以“老實泉(Old Faithful)”最爲著名，從它被發現到現在的100多年間，每隔90分鐘左右噴發一次，每次噴發持續四五分鐘，水柱高40多米，從不間斷。黃石國家公園是美國設立最早、規模最大的國家公園。它就像中國的長城一樣，是外圉旅行者到美國的必遊之處。
