Drink這個詞雖然是“喝”的意思，但是如果沒有指明是喝水(drink water)或是喝其他的東西，則多半指的是喝酒(drink alcohol)的意思。drinking problem，指的是“酗酒”的習慣。另外，在速食店若店員問，"What kinds of drinks do you want?"（你要什麼飲料？）這裏的drinks指的是soft drinks的意思。
